Bootleg the Force
I just saw Starwars Episode III. It sucked - but at least I got to paint my nails. "But wait," you say, "didn't Amanda swear she wasn't going to see Episode III unless she found a way to view the movie from which George Lucas could make absolutely no profit?" Why, yes, yes Amanda - I mean, I did say that. And, thanks to a certain bootleg-happy friend of ours, we did just that. I watched Episode III at home, on my very own television, 100% for free!
And it was worth every penny! The screenplay, acting, directing, dialog and visuals all sucked ass. And, not only did the movie not feature the voice of James Earl Jones, it ended with the Worst.Line.Ever. Spoiler...
Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Oh, Amanda...
Sigh.
Triple sigh.
Your words are painful to geeks everywhere.
Besides, if you look at the new trilogy as the story of the uber-hot Ewan McGregor and the kick-ass Obi Wan, it gets much more interesting. (and sexy, of course)

I am glad somebody else feels the same way. Yeah, the dialogue was just painful to listen to.
As to a workaround to make sure the director that you dislike does not benefit, here is what I've done.
I dislike Michael Moore with every bone in my body even though I strongly opposed the war in Iraq.
But I still got to see F911 at the theatre. How? Paid money for a ticket for a DIFFERENT movie being played at the movie house (I think I paid for the ticket for Shrek II) and then saw F911 instead of the one that I paid for.
So did I "steal"? Ironic. I just blogged about stealing. Maybe I did steal, but if I did, I "stole" only from Michael Moore, not from the theatre itself. They got my $9.

Amanda, imdb.com claims that James Earl Jones was indeed featured as Vader's voice. Though, my own refusal to futher line Lucas's pockets prevents me from confirming or refuting this.

Isn't this like saying that a sandwich with moldy cheese and rotten meat is much tastier if you just think about the juicy slice of tomato?

Okay, nitpicky comment. I saw the movie again this weekend (yeah, I am married to a huge, freaking geek) and that was not in fact the last line of the movie. Just sayin'....
Also, that is totally James Earl Jones. I think he was just trying to sound younger and weaker.
Moldy cheese and rotten meat? Now, it wasn't all THAT bad. Come on now.
I am sure I sound like a crazy fan girl, but I dug it. Maybe it's because I grew up watching the original three every other weekend (yeah, my brothers are huge, freaking geeks :) but I think it wasn't all that bad.
Is Anakin whiny? Heck yeah! But, he's also 18 years old and an immature punk. He's SUPPOSED to be whiny.
Hmm...this is turning into a diatribe on why this movie doesn't suck. Maybe I'll just call you and we can argue it out on the phone...
Oh, and happy birthday (a day early) to Jared!

A friend saw the movie and from what he tells me, it is not promising.
As for bootlegging the movie, I preffer to wait. A bootlegged movie, although "free" (you still have to go through the trouble of downloading and copying to disk), is not of the same quality of a DVD.
And a legally rented (Netflix) DVD is a very, very, very inexpensive way of paying a fair share for the movie.
